Orland Fire injures three including 2 police officers
An elderly female Orland Park resident was critically injured in a house fire in this afternoon. At about 3:30, 1/30/2017, Orland Fire received a 911 call from a resident on Primrose Ct. reporting a fire and that she was unable to get out. Three minutes after that call was placed Engine 2 and Ambulance 2 were on the scene.
With a hose line deployed the crew searched for the woman finding her in a bedroom. The woman was removed from the house with immediate treatment started in the front yard. She was transported to Palos Hospital in critical condition with burns, smoke inhalation, and then transferred to Loyola.
The fire was confined to one bedroom and quickly extinguished with smoke throughout the home.
Two Orland Park police officers were treated and transported to Palos Hospital for smoke inhalation after entering the smoke filled home to locate the woman.
The residents dog was located by firefighters, removed in good condition, and is being cared for neighbors. There were smoke detectors alarming at the time of fire.
The fire originated in the occupied bedroom but the cause of the fire has not yet been determined. Orland Fire was assisted on scene by Oak Forest, Tinley Park, and Palos Heights with several other area departments covering Orland stations during the fire.
